Google data & permissions

Pipeboard for Google

Pipeboard connects your Google Analytics, Google Ads, Search Ads 360, Google Search Console, Google Merchant Center, and Google Drive accounts to AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This page explains, in plain English, what each integration does and exactly which Google permissions it needs — and why.

What Pipeboard does, and why it needs Google access

Pipeboard is a platform that lets AI assistants read and act on your advertising, analytics, and shopping data on your behalf, in natural language. Instead of clicking through dashboards or writing API code, you ask questions like “how did my campaigns perform last week?” and the assistant pulls the answer directly from the relevant Google account.

To do that, you connect the Google product(s) you want to use through Google’s official OAuth consent screen. Pipeboard requests only the permissions for the product you connect — connecting Google Analytics does not request Google Ads access, and vice versa. The sections below map every permission to the integration that uses it.

Account identity

Shared by every Google connection (non-sensitive)

Regardless of which Google product you connect, Pipeboard reads your basic Google account identity so it can label the connection. It is never used for anything else.

.../auth/userinfo.emailSee your primary Google Account email address

How Pipeboard uses it: Identifies which Google account a connection belongs to — essential when you connect more than one Google account.

.../auth/userinfo.profileSee your personal info, including any personal info you’ve made publicly available

How Pipeboard uses it: Shows the connected account name in your Pipeboard connections list so you can tell your connections apart.

openidAssociate you with your personal info on Google

How Pipeboard uses it: The standard Google sign-in that accompanies the two scopes above — no Pipeboard route requests it; Google adds it whenever either of those is present. Pipeboard reads only the email address and account name already described above, and it grants no access to any Google product data.

Google Analytics MCP

Lets your AI assistant answer questions about your Google Analytics 4 properties — sessions, users, traffic sources, conversions, and revenue — and optionally manage property configuration, all in plain English.

Permissions this integration requests

.../auth/analytics.readonlySee and download your Google Analytics data

How Pipeboard uses it: Runs GA4 reports (standard, realtime, pivot) and lists the properties, dimensions, metrics, and conversion events available to you. This is the read access behind every reporting answer.

.../auth/analytics.editEdit Google Analytics management entities

How Pipeboard uses it: Used only when you explicitly ask to change a property setup — creating or updating custom dimensions and metrics, or creating and deleting conversion events. Never used to alter your historical analytics data.

Google Ads MCP

Lets your AI assistant manage Google Ads campaigns — review performance, optimize keywords and bids, run GAQL reports, and create or update campaigns — through natural language.

Permissions this integration requests

.../auth/adwordsSee, edit, create, and delete your Google Ads accounts and data

How Pipeboard uses it: Reads campaign, keyword, and performance data and applies the changes you ask for — creating, updating, or pausing campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and budgets. New campaigns are created in PAUSED status by default so you review before anything goes live.

Search Ads 360 MCP

Lets your AI assistant report on your Search Ads 360 advertisers — cross-engine search campaign performance, spend, and conversions — in plain English, and upload the offline conversions you ask it to record.

Permissions this integration requests

.../auth/doubleclicksearchView and manage your advertising data in DoubleClick Search

How Pipeboard uses it: Two things, both of which you ask for explicitly. Reading: Pipeboard lists the Search Ads 360 customers (advertisers and manager accounts) you can access, runs the reporting queries you request — campaign, ad group, keyword performance, spend and conversions — and reads your custom column definitions and the API’s field metadata to build those queries. Writing: when you ask it to, Pipeboard uploads offline conversions (sales that closed off-site, by phone, CRM or in store), restates the value of a conversion after a refund or return, and marks a Floodlight activity’s uploads complete for a period so bidding is not left waiting on data. Those writes only ever add or correct conversion records you supply. Pipeboard cannot create, edit, pause, or delete campaigns, ad groups, keywords, budgets or bids in Search Ads 360 — no tool and no API we call can do that.

Display & Video 360 MCP

Lets your AI assistant work with your Display & Video 360 advertisers — reviewing programmatic display, video, CTV and audio campaigns, and reporting on their delivery and spend — in plain English.

Permissions this integration requests

.../auth/display-videoCreate, see, edit, and permanently delete your Display & Video 360 entities and reports

How Pipeboard uses it: Reading: Pipeboard lists the DV360 advertisers your Google account can reach, together with the partner that owns each one, and reads the campaigns, insertion orders, line items, creatives and targeting inside the advertiser you ask about. Writing is introduced separately and only ever applies a change you asked for in that conversation; nothing is created, paused or edited on its own.

.../auth/doubleclickbidmanagerView and manage your reports in DoubleClick Bid Manager

How Pipeboard uses it: Display & Video 360 has no reporting inside its own API — every report runs through Bid Manager. Pipeboard uses this to build and run the reports you ask for (spend, impressions, delivery by campaign, line item, creative or audience) and to read the results back. The report definitions it creates are named with a "pipeboard:" prefix so you can recognise them in your own DV360 account.

Google Search Console MCP

Lets your AI assistant answer questions about how your site performs in Google Search — clicks, impressions, CTR and average position by query, page, country or device — inspect how a URL is indexed, and manage your sitemaps and verified properties.

Permissions this integration requests

.../auth/webmastersView and manage Search Console data for your verified sites

How Pipeboard uses it: Reads your verified properties, Search performance data, sitemaps and URL inspection results — that is what answers every reporting question. The same permission covers the changes you explicitly ask for: submitting or deleting a sitemap, and adding or removing a site from Search Console. Pipeboard never edits your website or its content; it only manages these Search Console entries on your instruction.

Connect Google Search Console

Google Merchant Center MCP

Lets your AI assistant analyze and maintain your Google Shopping presence — product listings, item issues and diagnostics, price competitiveness, best sellers, and Merchant Center account health.

Permissions this integration requests

.../auth/contentManage your product listings and accounts for Google Shopping

How Pipeboard uses it: Reads your Merchant Center accounts, products, and diagnostics (issues, price competitiveness, best sellers, performance) and, when you ask, updates product attributes such as destinations and custom labels. Used only to surface insights and apply the changes you request.

Read the Google Merchant Center MCP guide

Google Drive MCP

Lets your AI assistant find folders and list the image and video files in your Google Drive, and use those files as ad creatives — Pipeboard reads the file you select from Drive and uploads it directly to the ad platform on your behalf.

Permissions this integration requests

.../auth/drive.readonlySee and download all your Google Drive files

How Pipeboard uses it: Lists folders and the image/video files inside them, and downloads a file you choose so it can be uploaded as an ad creative. Read-only: Pipeboard never creates, edits, or deletes anything in your Drive, and the file content is used only to complete the upload you asked for.

How we handle your Google data

  • We use your Google data solely to provide the features you request — running the reports and changes you (or your AI assistant, on your behalf) ask for.
  • We never sell your Google data, and we never use it for advertising targeting.
  • We do not use your Google data to train AI or machine-learning models.
  • Read access is the default; write permissions are only exercised when you explicitly ask to change something.
  • You can disconnect any Google product at any time from your connections page, which revokes Pipeboard’s access.
  • Pipeboard’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
