Google Docs & Sheets MCP Server
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI tool to Google Sheets and Google Docs. Pull a media plan or budget sheet into the conversation, write performance numbers back, and turn an analysis into a client-ready report in a Doc — in plain English.
What is the Google Docs & Sheets MCP?
The Pipeboard Google Docs & Sheets MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server connects AI assistants to the Google Sheets and Google Docs APIs, so the spreadsheets and documents your team already plans and reports in become part of the conversation with your ad accounts.
- Read a budget or media plan sheet and compare it with what actually spent.
- Append yesterday’s campaign results to a running performance log.
- Write a weekly report or campaign brief straight into a new Google Doc.
- Fill a client report template’s placeholders with this month’s numbers.
Google Docs & Sheets is not enabled for customer accounts yet
We are still rolling this integration out, so the Google Docs & Sheets card does not appear on your Connections page yet and the setup steps below will not be available to you. This guide documents what the MCP server does today so you can plan ahead.
Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, Reddit Ads, and Snap Ads are generally available on every plan today. Browse those guides →

Once your account is enabled
1. Connect your Google account (you will review the access on Google’s consent screen). You can connect more than one:
pipeboard.co/connections/google-workspace →The Google Docs & Sheets card is not on this page yet for customer accounts — it appears once your account is enabled.
2. Optional: to find files by name, also connect Google Drive for the same Google account. Without it, give your assistant the link to the Sheet or Doc.
3. Add the MCP server to your AI client:
https://google-workspace.mcp.pipeboard.co/Use this URL as a Streamable HTTP MCP server. Authentication is handled through your Pipeboard session.
Tools
Finding files
list_google_workspace_connections— The Google accounts you connected — the connection_id to pass when you have more than one.search_google_files— Find Sheets and Docs by name. Uses your Google Drive connection for the same Google account; with a link or id you can skip it.
Google Sheets
get_google_sheet— A spreadsheet’s structure: its tabs, their size and frozen rows, and its named ranges.get_google_sheet_values— Cell values, row by row, for one or more ranges — page by page for large tabs.write_google_sheet_values— Write values into one or more ranges, overwriting what is there.append_google_sheet_rows— Add rows after the existing data in a tab — a daily spend log, a new keyword batch.clear_google_sheet_range— Clear the values of one or more ranges. Formatting and validation stay.create_google_sheet— Create a new spreadsheet, optionally with named tabs and starting values.manage_google_sheet_tabs— Add, rename, duplicate or delete tabs, all in one step: either every change applies or none does.batch_update_google_sheet— Anything else the Sheets API can do — formatting, conditional formats, validation, filters, charts — sent as raw requests.
Google Docs
get_google_doc— A document’s content as markdown or plain text, every tab included, plus its revision id.create_google_doc— Create a new document from markdown — headings, lists, tables and links come through.append_google_doc_content— Add markdown to the end of a document or of one of its tabs.replace_google_doc_text— Replace every occurrence of a text — for example, fill a template’s {{client_name}} placeholders.batch_update_google_doc— Anything else the Docs API can do — tables, images, styles, headers — sent as raw requests, and refused if the document changed since you read it.
Edits that overwrite or delete — writing over cells, clearing a range, deleting a tab, replacing text, raw batch updates — are marked as destructive, so AI clients that ask before such changes will ask you first.
How we use your data
Pipeboard asks Google for access to your Google Sheets and Google Docs, and to the files it creates in your Drive. It opens only the spreadsheets and documents your assistant is asked to work on, uses them only for the requests you make, and does not store their contents. Each permission and what we do with it is listed on our Google integrations page.
Disconnecting a Google account on your Connections page removes its access from Pipeboard immediately.
