Northbeam MCP Server

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or any AI tool to your Northbeam dashboard. Ask which campaigns are really driving revenue, how ROAS changes between attribution models, or what your blended CAC was last month — in plain English, against live data.

What is the Northbeam MCP?

The Pipeboard Northbeam MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server connects AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to Northbeam’s Data Export, Spend and Orders APIs. Instead of building a saved view or downloading a CSV, you ask a question and the assistant runs the report against your dashboard.

It is built for growth teams, media buyers and agencies who already trust Northbeam’s attribution and want answers from it without clicking through the dashboard for each one.

What you can do with it:

Report spend, attributed revenue, ROAS, CAC, transactions and any of your dashboard’s ~900 metrics
Break results down by platform, campaign, ad set or ad, and by your own Northbeam breakdowns
Compare attribution models (clicks only, clicks + modeled views, last touch, first touch, linear) and windows from 1 to 90 days
Switch between accrual and cash accounting
Report daily, weekly, monthly or hourly, over a relative window or fixed dates
Read spend and orders you send to Northbeam through its Spend and Orders APIs

Attribution and the ad platforms in the same conversation

Northbeam tells you what each channel is really worth. The ad platforms are where you act on it. If you also connect Meta Ads, Google Ads or TikTok to Pipeboard, the same assistant can read Northbeam’s attributed ROAS next to what each platform reports, and point you at the campaigns where the two disagree. The Northbeam MCP itself only reads; any change happens through the ad platform’s own MCP, when you ask for it.

Northbeam is also on the single All Ads MCP URL, https://ads.mcp.pipeboard.co/, next to every ad platform you have connected — its tools appear there as northbeam_*.

Platform vs. Northbeam

"For my top 10 Meta campaigns by spend last week, compare Northbeam’s 7-day clicks + modeled views ROAS to the ROAS Meta reports."

Model sensitivity

"Show last month’s revenue by platform under first touch, last touch and Northbeam’s clicks-only model side by side."

New vs. returning

"What was our first-time customer CAC by platform over the last 30 days, in cash accounting?"

How Pipeboard uses your Northbeam data

What we store, what we read, and what we never do with it

Northbeam does not offer OAuth, so the connection is an API key you create in Northbeam and paste into Pipeboard. We use it solely to answer the requests you (or your AI assistant, on your behalf) make.

Your Northbeam API keyAPI key

Stored encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and only ever sent to Northbeam’s own API. After you save it, Pipeboard shows only its last four characters.

Your Data-Client-IDData-Client-ID

Identifies your Northbeam dashboard on every request. It is not a secret, and you pass it to the tools so it is always clear which dashboard a report came from.

Attribution reports, spend and ordersreports

Read when your assistant calls a tool and returned to it. Report exports are not kept by Pipeboard after the answer is sent.

Our commitments

  • Read-only: no tool can create, change or delete anything in Northbeam.
  • We never sell your Northbeam data, and we never use it for advertising or to train AI models.
  • Order records sent through Northbeam’s Orders API include buyer names, emails and addresses. Team owners and admins can turn that off under Settings → Privacy (“Shop order and customer data”), which removes the orders tool for the whole team.
  • Remove your key at any time on pipeboard.co/connections/northbeam. Deleting the key in Northbeam revokes it everywhere.

Full details are in our Privacy Policy, Data Processing Agreement and Security pages.

Getting Started

Set up in under 5 minutes

1. Sign up for a Pipeboard account:

pipeboard.co/auth/signup →

2. In Northbeam, open Settings → API Keys and select Create new API Key. Copy the API key and the Data-Client-ID it shows you.

3. Paste both into Pipeboard. We check the pair with Northbeam before saving it:

pipeboard.co/connections/northbeam →

4. Add the MCP server to Claude (or another MCP client):

https://northbeam.mcp.pipeboard.co/

Use this URL as a Streamable HTTP MCP server in your client. Authentication is handled through your Pipeboard login. Then ask the assistant to list your Northbeam accounts.

Connect to Your AI Tool

The Northbeam MCP works with any MCP-compatible client. Add the server URL and start asking about attribution in natural language.

The tools

list_northbeam_accounts

Your connected Northbeam dashboard and its Data-Client-ID, with a live check that the key still works. The assistant starts here.

get_northbeam_attribution_models

The attribution models the dashboard can report with.

get_northbeam_metrics

The metrics you can report — including custom metrics and goals — searchable by name.

get_northbeam_breakdowns

The breakdowns you can slice by (Platform, Category, your own groupings) and their values.

get_northbeam_sales_report

Runs a sales attribution report: any metrics, by platform, campaign, ad set or ad, for the models, windows and accounting modes you choose.

get_northbeam_export_result

Fetches a large report that was still running when the first call returned.

get_northbeam_spend

Daily spend records sent to Northbeam through its Spend API.

get_northbeam_hourly_spend

The same Spend API records, by hour.

get_northbeam_orders

Orders sent to Northbeam through its Orders API. Can be turned off per team under Settings → Privacy.

Best Practices

  • Name the attribution model, window and accounting mode in your question — Northbeam needs all three, and the numbers differ a lot between them
  • Ask for one report with several metrics rather than many small reports: Northbeam allows about 60 report calls per minute per dashboard
  • Rows can come back for both accrual and cash accounting; each row says which, so tell the assistant which one you want compared
  • Ad-level reports over long periods can run to thousands of rows; the assistant gets the first rows plus links to the full files
  • If a metric name is unclear, ask the assistant to search the metric list first — custom metrics and goals have their own ids
  • Use the sales report for spend and revenue from connected platforms; the spend and orders tools only show records sent through Northbeam’s APIs

Frequently asked questions

What is a Northbeam MCP server?

It is a Model Context Protocol server that gives an AI assistant read access to your Northbeam attribution data. Instead of building a view in the Northbeam dashboard or exporting a CSV, you ask a question — "which Meta campaigns had the best 7-day ROAS last week?" — and the assistant runs a Northbeam report and answers from your real numbers. The Pipeboard Northbeam MCP is available at https://northbeam.mcp.pipeboard.co/ and works with Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP-compatible client.

Can it change anything in Northbeam?

No. Every tool is read-only: it lists your dashboard’s attribution models, metrics and breakdowns, runs sales attribution reports, and reads spend and order records. There is no tool that creates, edits or deletes anything in Northbeam, and the server never sends your report exports anywhere except back to your AI assistant.

How do I connect it?

In Northbeam, open Settings → API Keys and create a new API key. Northbeam shows you two values: the API key and your Data-Client-ID. Paste both on pipeboard.co/connections/northbeam. Pipeboard checks the pair with Northbeam before saving it, then you add https://northbeam.mcp.pipeboard.co/ to your AI client.

Which attribution models and windows can I report on?

Any your dashboard supports. The assistant can list them first — typically Clicks only, Clicks + Deterministic Views, Clicks + Modeled Views, last touch, last non-direct touch, first touch and linear — and report on 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90-day windows in accrual or cash accounting mode. Custom metrics and custom goals you defined in Northbeam are available too.

Why do spend and orders sometimes come back empty?

Northbeam’s Spend and Orders APIs only return records that were sent to Northbeam through those APIs — spend for channels Northbeam does not integrate with, and orders posted by your own code. Spend Northbeam imports from Meta, Google and other connected platforms, and orders it syncs from Shopify, are not in them. Attributed spend, revenue and transactions for everything come from the sales report tool, which reads the same numbers as your Northbeam dashboard.

Can I connect more than one Northbeam dashboard?

Not yet. Each Pipeboard user connects one Northbeam dashboard (one API key and Data-Client-ID pair). If you manage several brands, each brand’s dashboard can be connected by a different Pipeboard user on your team. Tell us through the feedback tool if you need several on one login.

How fresh is the data?

Every report runs live against Northbeam’s Data Export API when the assistant asks, so it is as fresh as your Northbeam dashboard. Nothing is cached in between. Reports usually take a few seconds; very large ones can take longer, in which case the assistant gets an export id and fetches the rows when they are ready.
